Lingual braces consist of custom-made brackets and wires that are fixed on the inside (lingual) surface of the teeth. They work in a very similar way to traditional braces but are far more discreet as they are concealed from view. They are particularly suitable for adults and older teenagers who may feel self-conscious about wearing more obvious braces.
As with any orthodontic appliance, you will need to maintain an excellent oral hygiene routine to avoid plaque build-up and potential damage to the teeth. As well as regular brushing and flossing, an interdental brush may help you clean those hard to reach places, especially around the brackets.
After treatment, you should wear a retainer to keep your newly straightened teeth in line and stop them from moving back to their former position.
